..produce orders..

We currently offer boxes of produce and additional items every other week. Early in the week the order is delivered, you will receive an email that will notify you that ordering is open for the current cycle.

We also offer several different boxes -- fruits, veggies and mixed. You will receive between 6 and 10 items depending on the box type and the order for the week. You are also welcome to order additional items from our regular list at the same time. Box orders are NOT subscription based. You may order a box any time you want!

Our mini box is designed to feed 1 person for a week.
Our average box should feed 2 of you for a week.
Our jumbo box should feed a family of 4 or 5 for a week.
Our greens box is designed for juicers or those who just want a little extra green in their diet.
Our fruit box is designed to supplement your veggie box with extra fruit. (Great for families with kids!!)

On our produce order, you must enter the minimum quantity that you want and the maximum quantity that you will take. Since we have to fill up a case, and we want EVERYONE to get what they have ordered, you may receive somewhere between the minimum and maximum order quantity. Please enter a value for BOTH minimum AND maximum on the order form, even if they are the same number. (for example, if you really only want 1 cantaloupe, put the value of 1 in BOTH the minimum and maximum columns.)

You may receive an email later in the week asking you to add to your order so we can complete the case. That means that everyone's maximum order quantities were NOT enough to make the case minimum, and we need additional items. If you can, go into the current ordering cycle and update the values on your order with your new maximum order. If everyone could just add one more of something, we would meet our case minimums ALL THE TIME!

Your produce items will be delivered to your delivery location at the prescribed time on Friday.

..dairy and poultry..

Along with our produce that we receive every other week, we also order Raw Dairy and Pastured Eggs and Chickens.

Our dairy comes from local grass fed cows. They are pastured and fed primarily grass and hay with soy-free, non-GMO grains given during milking.

Our eggs and chickens come from The Dam Ranch in Bradenton, FL. They are soy-free pastured chickens that are truly free-range. It's quite a site to see, in fact.

Eggs are ordered every other week, and chickens are pre-ordered. Chicken have a 4-6 week lead time from order to delivery and they will be included with your produce order as soon as we receive them.

Frontier Natural Products Co-op is a company specializing in natural and organic products. They carry vitamins and supplements; organic and natural body care products; kitchen goods; bulk herbs, spices and teas; and much much more. Some of the brands carried by Frontier are Simply Organic, Auria Cacia, Jason's, Burt's Bees, Kiss My Face, Green Mountain Coffee, Rainbow Lights and many more.

The website for Frontier is http://www.frontiercoop.com/wholesale. Your membership information packet that you received via email contains the username and password for Frontier. If you've forgotten it, please send an email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and we will email it to you again.

1. To order items, simply browse the website to find items you would like to purchase. It is always a good idea to start with the sales since the prices are great. You will see the 'On Sale' link at the top of the Frontier website. If you know the specific item you'd like to purchase, you can use the search feature to locate it. There is also a way to shop by brand by clicking the 'Other Brands' button at the top of the website. Once you have selected your item click ‘Buy’ or ‘Add to Basket’.

Once in the basket you can see your total, number of articles and you can modify your quantities.

NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU CLICK THE “UPDATE BASKET” button BEFORE YOU CLICK SAVE ORDER… otherwise, there will be nothing in your basket to save, but the system doesn’t tell you that. The “Basket Contents” total at the top lists what you REALLY have in your order.

2. Once you are done shopping click on ‘Save Order’. Type your name and then click on ‘Save Current Basket’. A window will pop up that says ‘Current Basket Will Be Emptied’. Click on Ok and a new order with your name will appear with the date of the order next to your name.

3. If at this point you have finalized your order, please send an email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) (this notifies me that you have submitted and completed your order so we can calculate and post your totals). Your order totals will be confirmed within 48 hours of receiving your order status notification.

4. If you want to continue buying later on you do the same thing. Put items in a new basket. When you are done go to ‘Save Order’ and type your name. A window will appear that says it will be placed with other items listed under the same name and you click on OK and the order gets updated. You then go back to step 3 (submit your order status).

5. If you want to delete items you need to move your order to the basket. You do this by clicking on ‘Move Order to Basket’ and you place a zero next to the item amount. You click ‘Update Basket’ and the item gets erased. You then go back to step 2 (‘Save Order’ and enter your name).

6. If you do update your order (add or delete items) after your order total has been posted, please notify us by sending an email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

7. Once you receive your email with your order totals, please mail your payment to us promptly! If there is a difference in your order total and your received total, we will either refund the difference, or credit you toward your next order. (Produce, Dairy, or Frontier.) ORDERING: We currently order produce, meat, milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt, deli-meats, juices and additional items every other week, and natural body care and vitamin type items every other month. Details can be found on the Produce Orders page and the Frontier page. All raw milk products are for pet consumption only per Florida law.

PAYMENT: Payments may be made at pick-up, paid via paypal or may be mailed. Mailed payments MUST be mailed within 24 hours of delivery. Payment is via check only. Details can be found on the payments page.

PICK-UP: Pick-up is every Friday. Click here for our delivery locations.

WHAT’S AVAILABLE: A complete list of food items available and current prices can be found on our available items page. We also offer natural drugstore items through Frontier, which is itself a co-operative buying club. Brands include Tom’s of Maine, Avalon Organics, Seventh Generation, Aura Cacia, J.A.S.O.N, and the like. We are always look for additional sources for meat, poultry, bulk nuts and dried fruits, and organic clothing. CO-OP FEES: There is a one-time, non-refundable $10 setup fee which will be added to your first order.

DELIVERY FEE: There is a $1.50 delivery fee added to each order, regardless of order size. This covers the cost of OUR delivery fees.

CO-OP STRUCTURE AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Co-op food prices are lower than grocery store prices. We greatly rely on the volunteer efforts of our members, who help out with each order cycle.

Volunteering allows our members an opportunity to not pay ANY mark up of the total of the order.

Volunteer tasks currently include:
- picking up or receiving, sorting, and delivering to our various drop points: coffee, eggs, cheese, and Frontier items
- meeting the truck and putting away perishables
- sorting produce that we order by the case
- helping out at pick-up

CO-OP FEES: There is a $12 annual membership fee due at the time of your first order and from then on every year in January. Your first year's fee will be pro-rated based on the month you joined. If you are not happy with the co-op after the first 30 days, we will gladly refund your membership fee. Additionally, there is a $10 one-time setup fee charged on your first order. This fee is non-refundable, as it covers the costs of your sorting basket and your first two shopping bags.

ORDERING SCHEDULE: Our current ordering schedule is as follows:

We expect any members who are able to volunteer! It could be as easy as helping to deliver orders or helping to sort vegetables or as complicated as running Frontier.

Volunteer Opportunities

At the current time, we have the following volunteer opportunities:

Frontier Order Coordinator

We are looking for a member to take over the coordination of Frontier orders. Frontier orders are placed every other month, and the Frontier job requires about 2-3 hours of your time every other month.

Duties involve the following:

• Sending out reminder email to make Frontier orders


• Checking the Frontier website for ordering minimums


• Placing the order on the Frontier website


• Entering the Frontier order data onto the Co-op Website


• Coordinating with the Frontier Delivery Co-ordinator regarding delivery dates

Frontier Delivery Co-Ordinator

We are also looking for someone to take over the coordination of the Frontier deliveries. This job will require about 2-3 hours of your time every other month.

Duties involve the following:

• Receiving the Frontier Order


• Printing out detailed list of member items from WFC website


• Sorting member orders


• Coordinating with Co-op coordinator regarding delivery of orders to members

Produce Sorting Helpers

Every other week, we sort our fruits and vegetables. This position may be volunteered for on an as-available basis. This job requires 1-2 hours of your time on the days that you volunteer. The produce sorting occurs at Vee's house in Parrish and takes place on Friday from 12:30 until approximately 2:00 pm.

Duties involve the following:

• Assisting with sorting vegetables and fruits into member baskets


• Assisting with loading up delivery van.


• Assisting with post-sorting clean-up.

..terms and conditions..

We are a member-run buying club and each participant assumes any risk associated with consuming organic produce and or raw dairy.

Buying clubs only work if we have ACTIVELY ordering members. As such, please contact Veronica if you are going to miss more than one delivery. Members that miss more than two consecutive deliveries without making prior arrangements will be dropped from the club at the discretion of our coordinators.

Produce prices are subject to change at any time. We will make every effort to order things at their existing prices, and will drop from the order any item whose price increases more than 15%. Your final invoice will be available online the morning of delivery. Please plan to provide/mail a check made payable to Veronica Van Dyke.

If you order produce and CANNOT MAKE YOUR SCHEDULED PICKUP, you must contact Veronica by Thursday evening to make arrangements for an alternate pickup location. Once you order your produce, you are responsible for paying for it. Any produce not picked up will be donated to the charity of our choice. YOU MUST STILL PAY FOR YOUR PRODUCE.

Any member who does not pay for their produce at the time of pickup or mail a check within 48 hours of pickup without making prior arrangements with Veronica will be dropped from the buying club.

There is a minimum $15 order per delivery. If you order less than $15, your order total will be adjusted to meet the $15 minimum. (If an item you order is out of stock, your order may drop below the $15 minimum.)

When you pick up your produce, please be prepared to leave a CLEAN reusable grocery bag for use the following week. Wilderness Buying Club will NOT supply bags. If a member fails to leave a bag, they will be charged $1 to purchase a new bag.

We charge a one-time $10 setup fee for new members. This is payable with your first order, and is non-refundable.

Welcome! We are a local food co-op, started in May, 2008, that is dedicated to helping Manatee County families get healthy and sustainably-produced food and dry goods at affordable prices. We strive to purchase from local and regional suppliers as much as possible. We serve Lakewood Ranch, Northwest Bradenton, Parrish and Southern Hillsborough Counties, including Ruskin and Riverview.

We currently offer primarily regional organic produce, locally-produced natural (raw) milk and butter, local pastured (soy-free) eggs and chickens, Florida and Tennessee produced organic pasture-raised beef, lamb, pork and goat, and natural drugstore items. Raw milk products are for pet consumption only per Florida state law and are not offered for human consumption.

Wilderness Family Co-op is a member run co-op located in Manatee. We serve the greater Manatee and Southern Hillsborough Areas. We provide fruits and vegetables, meats and local dairy and eggs to our members. Although we do offer produce boxes, we are not a typical "box-run" co-op and you do NOT have to order a box in order to take advantage of our other items.

It was started in 2008 by Vee Van Dyke, a mother of two and self-proclaimed food nazi who was tired of paying exorbitant prices for organic foods. Vee lives in Parrish, and currently works full time at her "real" job, CIO of Leadership Simplified. In addition, she has two fine young men as sons, Joshua: born in 2000 and Noah: born in 2002. In her spare time (haha) she runs marathons, participates in adventure races on a three-person all female team (Go She-Beasts!) and runs this co-op.
